+SSG+ vs =DAC= final game for Do gaming league
Sunday the 19th of September saw what was to be the last game in leg 4 of the Do gaming league for the +SSG+ Ravens team.
The lineup was against the =DAC= Crusaders who have been doing very well in the league up until now.
The map was Port Valdez Conquest and it was one that the Ravens did not have much experience on.
The game:
We had some ideas for strategies and how we thought the other team would play theirs… boy were we wrong!
They started out stronger than we expected by heading straight for our uncap in their chopper with the aim to take our chopper out. It worked quite well for them catching us off guard.
They also managed to stop our first advance for the vital B flag and proceeded to hold us down in our uncap for a solid 2 minutes doing some serious damage.
We managed to divert their attention by taking their A flag which was closest to their base and that pulled them back for a bit to defend it.
From there we had to get ourselves back into the game which we managed to do until their chopper got into the air again and proceeded to turn the game back in their favor.
At and infantry and armor level we were closely matched but their chopper proved to be the deciding factor for the first round and they managed to take it 75 tickets to 0.
We had a short break between rounds and discussed a similar tactic to theirs hoping to take the 2nd round for a draw.
Unfortunately their chopper again managed to take our out early into the round.
They used some sneaky tactics after having take our chopper out by dropping an engineer just outside our base and he did a good job of catching our chopper unaware just before it got off the ground.
We fought back as hard as we could but having an air advantage proved to be their strong point. We managed to take out their chopper a few times with some well placed AT4 rockets and were able to keep it grounded for a while but they fought back and took control of the game again. in the end the round went in their favor with 95 tickets to 0.
Ian “Surv0” Kidd had this to say:
“Very tough game indeed. DAC pretty much schooled us using the various toys around the map and effectively neutralising ours. GG to them, they deserve the win.”
As they say Hindsight has 20-20 vision and we should have put more effort into preparing our chopper attack and uprated our armor offense.
The game brought to an end the 4th leg of the league and ended up with 1st place going to [ATF]FireTeam.MSI.
+SSG+ Ravens and =DC= Crusaders came in tie 2nd.
The Ravens have done very well after coming from the bottom of the 2nd division and almost taking the win in 1st at the end of this years league.
What the future for the Ravens holds is uncertain as a few of the players are moving away from Battlefield: Bad Company 2 so we will have to see where we go from here.
Special mention needs to be made to Vaughan “TheVovo” Robey the team leader for Ravens, he has done a sterling job organizing servers, matches and practices.
The team has come a long way and Im very proud of each and every player for their contribution.
